This is my proposed ARPS panel for the Contemporary category.

Statement of intent:

The fifteen images collected here represent an attempt to capture the fleeting state of ‘thoughtfulness’ - the silent, contemplative, reflective state which, depending upon circumstance, can take the form of a momentary lapse into a daydream or a much longer, meditative state. In attempting to capture the essence of a concept which in many cases has no distinct visual quality I have chosen to find ‘thoughtfulness’ through self-portraiture, portraiture, landscape and macro images of people around me and places in which I have felt thoughtful. Through the use of digital photomontage I have manipulated and layered some of the images to add a dreamlike quality to them and to explore the idea of seeing ‘through’ what is immediately within view to the image in the mind’s eye.
