Music

I have always been involved in music in one form or another. At school I learnt clarinet, keyboard and bass guitar as well as doing a fair bit of singing.

While I was at Birmingham University I co-organised the Bubble Up! club night which was a combination of DJing, live electronic music, performance art, massive month-long painting sessions for the night, and live projected visuals where I cut my teeth as a VJ (and continued doing that for about seven years).Bubble Up! came to an end when University life came to an end and we all went our separate ways. I continued VJing with Toby Harris as ‘Robots in Disguise’ for club nights like the now defunct drum and bass night Prosession and around the country at events like the Big Chill and at BBC Radio 1 Live in Birmingham alongside Grooverider, as well as the successful desi beats night Shaanti.

In 2003 I co-founded the experimental record label Type with the multi-talented John Xela.

Because I’ve been concentrating on the label I’ve not release any of my own music as yet, although I’ve got plenty of material. I’ve mainly been working in Max MSP, Supercollider and using generative methods. You can pick up two remixes for Metamatics on Hydrogen Dukebox though.
