Fierce! 10

This year’s Fierce! programme has been announced. If you’re not familiar with it, the festival has been running for ten years in Birmingham and is regarded as one of the UK’s most respected performing arts festivals. I’m happy to be involved for the first time this year and it looks set to be fantastic.

The Name in Lights project I blogged about has now closed (after tens of thousands of name suggestions) and is just one of the events they have planned.

My favourite has to be the Sky Orchestra for sheer ambitiousness: Luke Jerram and Dan Jones with CBSO musicians performing live (with instruments) from hot air balloons over the city.

Then there’s Ballet on the Buses which will see Birmingham Royal Ballet performing in an old Routemaster bus.

Fierce! favourites Franko B and Ducky are making a welcome return alongside a string of international artists too numerous to summarise here. To top it off there are debates, events for kids and a Fierce Futures strand showcasing works by new talent.

See you at the opening party - not one to be missed!
