As a side note, the streets of Austin seemed to be full of excessively sized and badly driven SUVs and trucks as family cars.
I asked a few people what they thought of all this and got shrugs in response.
I was really shocked that in somewhere like Texas, with its history of close connection with the oil industry there was very little awareness of the environmental issues that we hear about every day in the UK.
